Overview

This document defines the category taxonomy for the Ausstellungsstücke catalog — 7 categories designed to serve curators, collectors, and the platform’s search and filtering infrastructure.

The 7 Categories

1. Furniture (Term ID: 356)

Antique, vintage, and period furniture for display and functional use. 18th–20th century with documented exhibition or estate provenance. Launch estimate: 5–15 pieces.

2. Paintings & Works on Paper (Term ID: 357)

Oil paintings, watercolors, and significant works on paper with documented provenance chains. Launch estimate: 3–10 pieces.

3. Sculpture & Three-Dimensional Works (Term ID: 358)

Three-dimensional works in stone, bronze, wood, ceramic, mixed media with documented gallery or museum provenance. Launch estimate: 2–8 pieces.

4. Ceramics, Glass & Enamel (Term ID: 359)

Decorative and functional vessels and objects in ceramic, glass, and enamel. Launch estimate: 3–10 pieces.

5. Textiles & Tapestries (Term ID: 360)

Historic and decorative textiles including tapestries, rugs, embroidered pieces, and textile artworks. Launch estimate: 2–6 pieces.

6. Clocks, Watches & Scientific Instruments (Term ID: 361)

Timepieces and horological objects with early scientific instruments. Launch estimate: 2–6 pieces.

7. Jewelry & Precious Objects (Term ID: 362)

Antique and period jewelry with documented provenance, plus small-scale precious objects. Launch estimate: 2–8 pieces.

Provenance Status: Verified / Pending / Unverified / Disputed — shown on every product card.

Origin Period: 17th century and earlier, 18th century, 19th century, 20th century, 21st century (with provenance), Multi-period.

– **Full spec documented** at `docs/CATEGORY-TAXONOMY.md` including taxonomy summary table, cross-cutting provenance/period filters, future expansion considerations, and implementation notes
